No matter what you might have faced and the burdens you\u2019ve suffered, there are ways to heal fully from emotional trauma, so you can begin living your life again in the way that you deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Remember: you <em>absolutely <\/em>deserve this chance to heal. No one should ever have to feel hurt, in pain, or afraid due to childhood trauma. Indeed, for so many of us, it\u2019s easy to overlook the pain we\u2019ve experienced in childhood. Does this sound like a familiar situation to you? If so, then you may have suffered childhood trauma \u2013 potentially without even realising it.<\/p>\n<p>Childhood trauma comes in many forms. Emotional childhood trauma is perhaps the most common type of childhood trauma. You might have noticed this in your own life, while growing up; neglect and abandonment are common examples. You may have also experienced physical or emotional abuse, leaving you feeling hurt and scarred. Finally, you may have experienced sexual abuse during childhood, which can leave you feeling incredibly low and pained going forwards.<\/p>\n<p>Childhood trauma comes in so many different forms. With this in mind, it\u2019s not necessarily easy to say what childhood trauma is. After all, it varies for everyone. However, if you are still feeling the impacts of events you experienced during your childhood as an adult, there may be a good chance you could have experienced childhood trauma.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7583\" src=\"https:\/\/www.junabrookes.co.uk\/staging\/5147\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/gabrielle-wright-0dxP1ZgY_kk-unsplash-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"hand\" width=\"353\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How Childhood Trauma Can Hurt Your Life<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/psychcentral.com\/blog\/childhood-behavioral\/2020\/02\/people-dont-outgrow-the-effects-of-childhood-trauma-just-because-they-become-adults\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">So many people assume<\/a> that childhood trauma isn\u2019t \u201cimportant.\u201d It\u2019s easy for us to assume that we\u2019ll simply \u201cgrow out of\u201d the emotional trauma and suffering we experienced as a child. After all, it was years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this \u2013 in the majority of instances \u2013 isn\u2019t the case. Childhood trauma occurs during our most profound developmental years. As such, it\u2019s incredibly common for these traumas and experiences to stay with us for years, even into adulthood. In turn, this can have numerous negative impacts on our lifestyle and happiness. Some of the most common impacts of childhood trauma can include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anxiety and depression<\/li>\n<li>Difficulties trusting other people<\/li>\n<li>PTSD and long-term worry<\/li>\n<li>Challenges with focusing and engaging with education<\/li>\n<li>Increased risks of violence and anger as an adult as a \u201cself-defence\u201d mechanism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are just a handful of the different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verywellmind.com\/what-are-the-effects-of-childhood-trauma-4147640\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ways that childhood trauma can hurt your life<\/a>. However, you could also experience countless other struggles. For example, many survivors of childhood trauma also experience restlessness or can otherwise feel numb, lose touch with reality, and often struggle to feel comfortable in an adult-dominated world as they grow up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-7582\" src=\"https:\/\/www.junabrookes.co.uk\/staging\/5147\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/andrew-seaman-0DDsnK0YKVU-unsplash-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"photograph\" width=\"353\" height=\"234\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>How to Heal From Childhood Trauma<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Childhood trauma can impact so many aspects of our lives, even as an adult. After all, we can\u2019t simply outgrow it or forget that it happened. Nevertheless, there are ways you can learn how to heal from even subconscious childhood trauma.<\/p>\n<p>The first step in the process of <a href=\"https:\/\/casapalmera.com\/blog\/7-ways-to-heal-your-childhood-trauma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">healing from trauma<\/a> is simply coming to terms with the event. Whether we like it or not, these events happened, and none of us can rewind the clock; it\u2019s a part of who you are today (and I promise: you\u2019ll be stronger when you heal from this). However, acceptance of the event is crucial.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve come to terms with your childhood trauma, recovery can begin. Since many childhood traumas are subconscious, initially, you may not even realise how much they are hurting you. However, through EDMR therapy, you can begin to self-soothe by allowing your brain to reprocess these painful memories. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.junabrookes.co.uk\/staging\/5147\/emdr-therapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EDMR therapists<\/a> help your brain associate painful memories with more empowering, positive thoughts \u2013 making it easier to live with the experiences and move on from your suffering.<\/p>\n<p>EDMR therapy is commonly used for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.junabrookes.co.uk\/staging\/5147\/emdr-therapy-and-hypnotherapy-for-ptsd-recovery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">patients suffering from PTSD<\/a>, which can also be common for survivors of childhood trauma. In addition, it\u2019s also a highly valuable tool for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.junabrookes.co.uk\/staging\/5147\/overcoming-abandonment-anxiety-with-help-from-edmr-therapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">healing from abandonment anxiety<\/a>, a further common cause.
